Abstract

In this lecture, basic terms of computer science are introduced. Emphasis is given on the Internet, WWW and Computer networks. Text processing is done with LaTeX, spread sheets are treated with Excel. Much emphasis is given to the introduction and efficient usage of MATLAB, a powerful tool for computational science.

Objective

Lernen, einen PC als persönliches Arbeitsmittel effizient einzusetzen. Kenntnisse der spezifischen Werkzeuge Matlab, LaTeX, Excel.

Content

1. Introduction of basic terms in Computer Science, in particular in connection with Internet, WWW and computer networks. 2. Learn, how to use a PC efficiently as a personal tool. 3. Text processing, spread sheets, graphic data managment (LaTeX and Excel) 4. Scientific Computing: Introduction into the matrix laboratory MATLAB.
