Abstract

The basis of any landscape design is the perception and the understanding of landscape design qualities. Small exercises focus on the specific scales and processes that form a landscape as well as on their perception and representation. Video is used as a tool accompanying different conventions of seeing. Different theoretical approaches in design will be researched and discussed.

Content

Wintersemester elective course landscape architecture Landscape and Video In the next semester 05/06 we will investigate the urban landscape between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. The region is stamped by the watch factory’s growth of the 19th century and both cities whose centers lie only 7 km apart, form a small agglomeration. The region’s apparitional oblivion is changing through 2 different influences: it’s candidature for the uno’s world heritage list and secondly and through increasing establishing of modern services and other trades. During 3 exercises we will work on instrumentaries to apprehend and perceive space in this changing landscape. And for the diploma of the course the students will produce a short video essay of the site during sommer break. 21.10.05 15:00-19:00 Final Crit SS05 «Teotihuacan» Gäste: Sylvia Gmür, Architect, Basel Martin Josephy, Architect, Editor, (Barragan Foundation), Basel Luc Schaedler, Filmmaker («Angry Monk», Release Herbst 05), Zürich HIL H Plaza 27.10.05 13:00-14:00 Introduction elective course landscape architectur video - HIL H Plaza 03.11.05 08:00-20:00 jointly daytrip to La Chaux-de-Fonds Introduction in camera and key organisation on train. issuances of exercise 1 on site Prof.Christophe Girot, Susanne Hofer 10.11.05 13:00 – 15:00 Lecture «Walkscapes», Francesco Careri (Archi.
