Abstract
Chemistry of the elements in 13 parts:1) periodical properties2) main group metals3) main group metaloids4) non metals5) deposits and preparations6) reactivity7) ion lattices8) element hydrogen compounds9) VSEPR-model10) halogen compounds11) oxygen compounds12) MO diagrams13) redox chemistry
Objective
Understanding of the fundamental principles of the structures, properties, and reactivities of the main group elements (groups 1,2 and 13 to 18).
Content
The course is devided in 13 parts, in which the fundamental phenomena of the chemistry of the main group elements is discussed: Part 1: Introduction in the peridodical properties of the elements. – part 2: structures of the main group metals. - part 3: structures of the main group metaloids. – part 4: structures of the non metals. - part 5: deposits and preparations of the elements. - part 6: reactivity of the elements. - part 7: ion lattices. - part 8: element hydrogen compounds. - part 9: the VSEPR model. – part 10: halogen compounds. - part 11: oxygen compounds. - part 12: qualitative MO diagrams. - part 13: redox chemistry.
