Einführung in die klassische Feldtheorie am Beispiel der Elektrodynamik: Feldbegriff, Maxwell-Gleichungen, spezielle Relativitätstheorie, Erhaltungssätze. Elektrodynamik in materiellen Medien. Ausgewählte Anwendungen und Beispiele, insbesondere Erzeugung und Ausbreitung elektromagnetischer Wellen, Strahlungsdämpfung und Beispiele aus der Optik.
