Abstract

This course covers to computer simulation methods for classical and quantum many body problems. One focus is on efficient Monte Carlo algorithms and their applications to the simulation of phase transitions. A second focus is on simulation methods for thq quantum mechanical one-body and many-body problem (Hartree-Fock approximation, density functional theory, as well as exact methods).

Diese Vorlesung gibt einen Überblick über alle Phasen einer numerischen Simulation physikalischer Probleme: Erstellen eines Modells, Algorithmen, Implementierung und Testen, Auswertung und Fehlerabschätzung. Die wichtigsten Algorithmen der rechnergestützten Simulation physikalischer Systeme werden präsentiert, unter anderem Monte Carlo, N-Körperprobleme, molekuare Dynamik, Dichtefunktionalmethoden sowie Algorithmen zur Simulation quantenmechanischer Systeme.
