Mathematics II and System Analysis I
Mathematik II: Analysis II und Lineare Algebra und Systemanalyse I
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:02:18
Abstract
Continuation of the topic of Mathematics I. Main focus: Linear differential equation systems; fundamental physical concepts of “work” and “flux”; applications out of real practice. – Mathematics: Linear algebra with respect to differential equation systems; vectorial functions of several variables; work and flux; Maple. – System Analysis: Dynamic linear box models with one and several variables.
Objective
The main objectives are the same as for Mathematik I. In the second term; however, the focus is on linear algebra, which is very useful in many situations. In particular, the so-called eigenvalue problem is the key to understand linear systems of differential equations with constant coefficients - a very important class of differential equations in modeling.
Content
Linear systems of equations, matrices, eigenvalue problem: eigenvalues and eigenvectors, application to linear systems of differential equations with constant coefficients. Further topics: Some elements of multidimensional calculus, integration.
