Objective

Apply principles and methods, which were presented in the core course, sequence to completely new problems and situations. Sharpen problem-solving skills in teams.

Content

The course consists of student's project work, which follow two didactical methods, case studies, and project-based learning. A single case-study or project lasts from two to six days, and covers problems in the field of "Natural Haz-ards". Case studies offer a well-defined problem. Students will get information and documents, which are necessary to solve the given problem. Project-based learning starts from an ill-structured, ill-defined problem, which offers an open initial starting position. Students have to decide by their own on project goals, the project plan, the coordination of activities, and the ex-pected results. They design the problem-solving process totally by their own.
