Abstract

Classification of organic reactions, reactive intermediates: radicals, carbocations, carbanions, organic acids and bases, electronic substitution effects, electrophilic aromatic substitution, electrophilic addition to C=C double bonds, the HSAB concept, nucleophilic substitution at sp3 hybridised carbon centres (SN1 reaction, SN2 reaction, neighbouring group participation).

Objective

Understanding of fundamental reactivity principles and the relationship between structure and reactivity. Knowledge of the most important raection types and of selected classes of compounds.
