Students are familiar with the methods for design and analysis of control systems with actuator saturations (anti windup) and constraints on other process output variables (override control). Case studies.

Content

Response of linear control systems when actuator saturations are transiently encountered (wind-up). Nonlinear extensions of discrete and continuous regulator structures (antiwindup). Transient response and nonlinear stability analysis. / Response of state feedback control systems with higher order plants and actuator saturations. Stability analysis and design for asymptotic stability. Methods to enlarge the stability radius. / Typical industrial constraint control problems. Discrete single output override regulator structures, equivalence. Transient response of systems with one constrained process output. Nonlinear stability analysis. Continuous regulator structures. / Extensions to multi-constrained systems. / Case studies with presentations.
