Objective

The goal of the course is to give deep insights on the molecular events responsible for the physiology of the cell. The pathological implications of their malfunctioning are also discussed. The course is given by several lecturers, each with specific expertise and competence on the subjects that she/he presents.

Content

Allg. Konzepte der Vitaminologie; Vitamin B Komplex, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin K; Insulin, Glukagon; Biochemie des Diabetes; Prostaglandine, Thromboxane, Leucotriene; Hormone der Schilddrüse, Atrial Natriuretic Factor; Renin-Angiotensin. Signal Transduktion I: Einführung und allg. Konzepte; Interzelluläres Signaling; Signal Transduktion an der Plasmamembran, Eigenschaften der zellulären Antworten auf Signale; Mechanismen der Inaktivierung von Ligand-Rezeptor Komplexen; Second Messengers; Effektoren; Physiologische Antworten auf Stimuli; Netzwerke und Eigenschaften von Signaltransduktionskaskaden. Signal Transduktion II: Das NO Radikal als Second Messenger; NO-Synthase; Rac-, Cdc42-GTPases und Kontrolle des Zytoskeletts; Apoptose: Apoptose vs. Necrose; Sphingomyelin-Zyklus; Caspasen; Rolle der Mitochondrien und anderer Faktoren.
