Abstract
This course provides a solid understanding of the interplay between individual and structural measures in the digital space in terms of universal design which serves as a basis for the relevant actors in the international environment of e-accessibility and e-inclusion. Participants acquire skills to assess the accessibility of digital systems and content and to evaluate suitable measures.
Objective
- Participants acquire a comprehensive understanding of (digital) accessibility; - Understanding of the interplay of individual and structural approaches to inclusion and participation of people with disabilities (human - environment); - Becoming familiar with the principles of Universal Design concerning different physical, sensory and cognitive limitations; - Ability to assess the accessibility of digital user interfaces and content; - Empowerment to initiate appropriate measures to improve accessibility.
Content
The course provides a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted challenges to inclusive, accessible information and communication systems. Participants will be able to assess the accessibility of such systems, identify barriers and obstacles for different types and degrees of disabilities, and initiate and evaluate appropriate measures. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between people with disabilities and their environment and know appropriate measures to optimize this.
