Content

This course helps participants to produce academic writing that is clear, reader-friendly, and persuasive, as well as appropriate to their particular academic audience. Participants submit writing from their own field and projects, receiving detailed feedback from the lecturer as well as targeted feedback from peers in the course. The first part of the course covers the linguistic components of writing in English (complex sentences, paragraph organization, and language issues). It then moves on to analyze the different parts of scientific research articles, focusing on how to create the flow and cohesion that is essential to communicating effectively. Finally, participants examine how to write persuasively in their respective fields and ensure the impact of their research.
