Environmental Policy: Term Paper
Umweltpolitik: Seminararbeit
Last Updated: 2026-06-03 00:08:08
Abstract
Independent development of a written paper on an environmental topic, making use of concepts from environmental policy analysis by means of qualitative content analysis.
Objective
Students independently analyse a relevant environmental issue and apply selected environmental policy concepts in a well‑substantiated written assignment.
Content
Students write a paper on a current environmental topic in which concepts of environmental policy are applied by means of a qualitative contents analysis. The approach builds on part one of the course Social Research Methods, and will be further specified in an introductory lessen as well as a tutorial session. Moreover, the main course provides foundational knowledge of environmental policy instruments, actors, programmes, and processes, as well as their evolution over time. In addition, practitioners offer insights into recent developments in forest, water, and spatial planning policy. A particular focus is placed on distinguishing between political practice and political science analysis.
