Abstract

Do we live a house?Or do we house a life? How. Do. We. Live.Do we know HOW we live? Do we know enough aboutHOW we live? HOW do things around us shape the way welive? HOW do we live the things around us? WHAT are theconditions around us? WHAT makes our habits? HOW dohabits change conditions?

Objective

3x3 3 movements are individual. We encourage the groupwork since it is the reality of architecture, it is always about working together – as also living together - but also since at school it is important to set out friendships. At the same time, it distributes work and tasks. The group finds form out of 3. These 3 students become a practice. In each movement, group members and assigned sets of questions change again. Each movement will be another group constellation of students. We study 3 times a combination of words. All together we will by that collect an endless series of configurations of topics. Each Movement will be the occasion to focus on one media to express, represent and talk about architecture. For inspiration, a range of references and methods will be given at the beginning of each Movement. 1x3 This last movement is an individual work, shaped by personal interest and attitude developed during the semester. Each student will select an own combination of words and questions, looking at M1, 2 or 3. The set will be investigated through architectural DETAILS in form of a series of drawings. This exercise will result in a cascade of technical drawings developed with the help of the BUK chair. Studio days are Tuesday and Wednesday, with sessions from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00. We ask mutual respect and attendance. If you are sick or cannot attend due to medical reasons, please inform us at [email protected] . On all our reviews, we show mutual RESPECT by being present to each other's DISSCUSIONS, aiming to share different attitudes through these inspiring MOMENTS. Construction III and IV “Construction III and IV” introduces students to the multiple meanings of construction – from design methods to attitudes of architects – encouraging them to find their own approach to design and construction. The series is taught by four professorships in blocks of five consecutive lectures. At the end of each semester’s lecture series, students are required to submit their learnings and reflections in the form of drawings, diagrams and notes, expressing the lecture's structure and content in the A5 sketchbook - exhibition format - provided at the beginning of the semester. The submission will contribute 10% to the overall grading of the design studio.

graded semester performance
The lecture “Construction III” (052-0505-00 V), as well as the exercises “Construction BUK III” (052-0505-00 U), are components of the performance assessment and represent an obligation to fulfil. If they are not completed, participation in the final critique of “Architectural Design III” is not possible. In this case, the learning unit must be retaken. When repeating the design course, the learning units do not have to be completed again, provided they were passed. The lecture “Construction III” is recorded as a continuous performance review in a sketchbook that is handed out at the beginning of the lecture series. The sketchbook is an independent learning element with which the students process what has been presented in the form of sketches, notes and diagrams. At the end of the semester the sketchbooks will be part of a collective exhibition. The assessment is then carried out by the respective design studios and counts for 10% of the overall grade of the design course. The following criteria will be taken into account in the assessment: completeness and punctuality of the submission, understanding and representation of the content presented in the lectures, ability to interpret and more comprehensively acquire the concepts, quality of the representations and descriptions. For the exercises in “Construction BUK III”, the minimum requirement is 6 passed exercises.
