Abstract

Students primarily work on a defined task or internship project in a professional environment within the field of Agricultural Sciences. By doing so, they apply the subject-specific, method-specific, social, and personal competencies acquired during their studies in their daily work and further develop and deepen them. Additionally, they reflect upon and present their internship experiences.

Objective

Upon completion of the course Professional Internship, students will be able to: - Apply and adapt knowledge and suitable methodological approaches to address practical challenges in a professional environment in agricultural sciences. - Evaluate work processes and the quality of their own contributions, and formulate concrete measures for improvement and further professional development. - Document and present the results and findings of the internship placement in a manner appropriate to the target audience. - Systematically reflect on their own learning experiences to further develop subject-specific, method-specific, social, and personal competencies.

Content

The course Professional Internship is designed to deepen and broaden the practice-oriented component of the Master's curriculum in Agricultural Sciences. It enables students to apply their knowledge and competencies in agricultural sciences in a professional context. They develop solutions to specific questions posed by the internship provider, thereby deepening their subject-specific, method-specific, social, and personal competencies. They reflect on their learning experiences. Additionally, they present insights of their internship placement. In consultation with the internship provider, students independently formulate individual subject-specific, method-specific, social, and personal learning and work objectives. During the internship placement, they continuously reflect on these objectives, evaluate their own learning progress, and derive concrete measures for their further competence development. The professional internship is structured into three consecutive phases: 1. Preparation phase – Participation in an information event and in Agro Day II. – Independent search for and organization of a suitable internship position. 2. Internship placement – Completion of an internship lasting at least 16 weeks. – Completion of written assignments that support the learning process, evaluation, and reflection during the internship. 3. Follow-up phase – Presentation of the internship provider and key insights of the internship placement in a “one-minute presentation" and a poster at Agro Day II. The performance assessment is carried out as an ungraded semester performance. It serves as evidence of the acquired subject-specific, method-specific, social, and personal learning objectives and competencies. It consists of the following components: - Successful completion of the internship placement and submission of the internship confirmation. - Timely submission of the completed protocols for the entry, appraisal, and exit interviews, as well as the learning documentation, prepared in appropriate quality. - Presentation of the internship placement at Agro Day II using one slide and one poster. - Submission of the course evaluation.
