Abstract
This two-semester lecture course provides a detailed understanding of the fundamentals of drug action and the therapeutic use of important classes of drugs. The lecture course Pharmacology and Toxicology I gives an introduction to pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and explains basic principles of neuropharmacology.
Objective
The lectures provide a comprehensive survey of pharmacology and toxicology. Special emphasis is placed on the interrelationship between pharmacological, pathophysiological and clinical aspects.
Content
The lecture series integrates disease pathology with mechanisms of drug action, usage, metabolism, pharmacokinetics, side effects, toxicology, contraindications and dosage of relevant drugs. Basic principles of clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy will be covered. After the introduction, the lecture course Pharmacology and Toxicology I is focused on topics of neuropharmacology.
