Abstract
Teaching of basic knowledge in microbiology with main focus on the topics: Prokaryotic Diversity, Microbial Cell Structure and Function, Molecular Genetics, Microbial Growth, Metabolic Diversity, Phylogeny and Taxonomy, as well as applied aspects of Biotechnology and the Interaction of Humans and Microbes.
Objective
Subject-Specific Learning Objectives The students - understand important concepts and theories of microbiology, relating to the structure of cells as well as their function and metabolism. - are familiar with methods and technologies in which microorganisms play an important role. - know how microorganisms interact with the human body.
Content
The focus is on the following topics: - Prokaryotic diversity - Bacterial cell biology - Molecular genetics - Growth physiology - Biochemical diversity - Phylogeny and taxonomy - Biotechnology - Interaction between humans and microorganisms

Mikrobiologie
Teile der Vorlesung werden auf Englisch gehalten und die entsprechenden Prüfungsfragen zu diesen Vorlesungsteilen werden auf Englisch formuliert sein. Antworten sind auf Englisch und Deutsch erlaubt.
Some parts of the lecture will be taught in English and the respective exam questions will also be asked in English. Responses are allowed in English and German.
