Motor Neurorehabilitation
Last Updated: 2026-06-03 00:07:47
Abstract
This course integrates clinical foundations of motor neurorehabilitation with evidence-based practice and innovation. Students analyse motor symptoms, apply structured clinical reasoning to cases, and critically appraise guidelines and their limitations. They also develop and justify evidence-informed concepts for future rehabilitation within a continuum-of-care perspective.
Objective
Students are expected to: - identify and differentiate key motor symptoms in neurological patients based on clinical observation and assessment - integrate pathophysiological knowledge into structured clinical reasoning processes - critically interpret current evidence and its limitations in motor neurorehabilitation - design and justify personalized, technology supported rehabilitation strategies beyond standardized protocols - propose evidence-informed ideas for the future development of neurorehabilitation interventions - apply a whole-continuum-of-care perspective, linking neuroscience, clinical needs, and technical solution development
Content
• Guidelines and motor learning–based interventions for the treatment of motor deficits • Brain plasticity in the motor system and the use of brain stimulation to support recovery • Cognitive contributions to motor deficits and their relevance for rehabilitation • Discussion of patient cases during two patient visits within the lectures, learning from people with lived experience • Group work on guidelines and practice of technology solution "pitches"
