Abstract

This course equips doctoral students with knowledge and tools to recognize, discuss and address ethical issues of their research.

Objective

Doctoral students learn how to identify, analyse and address ethical issues in their own scientific research. In addition, they will reflect on their professional role as scientific researchers.

Content

Presentations, combined with interactive discussions, of various ethical aspects of research in mathematics, including (1) publication standards (2) ethical issues in applied mathematics (statistics, financial mathematics, etc) (3) professional duties of mathematicians
