Last Updated: 2026-06-03 00:14:38
Abstract
In this seminar course the goal is to go through the first chapter of the book "Differential Forms in Algebraic Topology" by R. Bott and L. W. Tu, until Part 6 "The Thom Isomorphism" (orientable case).
Objective
The students are expected to acquire familiarity with the language of de Rham theory to talk about cohomology of smooth manifolds, and should become able to use them to prove foundational properties of cohomology, such as Poincaré duality, the Künneth formula and the Thom isomorphism.
