Advanced Monitoring and Evaluation in Learning Organisations

Abstract
The course builds on participants’ advanced understanding and experience of how to develop new and enhancing existing complex MEL processes and practices across learning organisations. It also includes supporting partners to develop and implement effective MEL systems.
Objective
• Clarifying concepts and terms of MEL • Issues to consider when developing a global approach to MEL: - Concept, including evidence-informed theories of change and key performance indicators (KPI) - Mixed methods of data collection for global performance assessment - Digitalization, including customized and open source solutions - Institutionalization, including internal approval procedures and policymaking - Capacity building, including resources, and principles and strategies to support senior management, staff teams and implementing partner organizations • Practice examples from different development organizations that illustrate some of the results as well as challenges in terms of global MEL processes • Strategies and tools to help participants to act as ‘agents of change’ within their own organisations
