In Other Wor(l)ds We live and learn through translation. Every thought, conversation, or drawing moves meaning between experiences, disciplines, media, and languages. Something is always transformed or lost along the way. On the other hand, misunderstanding can also be generative. Our Fachsemester explores translation as a practice of empathy, responsibility, and playfulness. What happens when we do not understand each other – and what can we learn by listening without demanding immediate understanding? In a multilingual environment, understanding becomes a shared obligation – without hierarchy and without the dominance of any single voice. Translation is approached both as method and as metaphor for how we inhabit and reimagine the world.
