Last Updated: 2026-06-03 00:14:28
Abstract
The module “Digital Biomarkers” deals with the application of novel technologies (mostly wearable sensors) that enable the collection of digital health data.
Objective
After successfully completing the lecture, students have a differentiated understanding of the possibilities and limitations of digitally collected health data. By independently developing clinical concepts and apply wearable sensors, students can also gain first experiences in the field of digital biomarkers.
Content
During the lecture, students will gain insights into the following topics: (i) the basic definitions and concepts of digital health including digital biomarkers, (ii) knowledge of the current standard and overview of wearable sensors, (iii) the assessment of the general and clinical suitability and applicability of wearable sensors, (iv) the basics of clinical approval of digital health technology, (v) the involvement of patients and the public in the sustainable development and application of such technologies, (vi) the collection and processing of sensor-generated data and digital biomarkers, and (vii) independent development of clinical measurement concepts as well as practical application and evaluation of digital measurements.
