Abstract
This course gives an introduction into various geometrical topics, such as euclidean and projective geometry, as well as geometrical properties of special curves like conics and cubics.
Objective
The aim of the lecture is to get an insight into beautiful geometrical results of the last 2000 years and at the same time to gain basics and intuition for further geometry courses, such as algebraic geometry.
Content
Foundations of Euclidean geometry; cross ratios; projective geometry; the theorems of Menelaos, Pappus, Desargues, Ceva, Pascal, and Brianchon; geometric properties of conic sections, and cubic and elliptic curves.
