Abstract

The course covers the fundamentals of biotechnological products and implementing a microbial cultivation into reactors on laboratory and industrial scale. It also covers major methods of product purification.

Objective

The objective is to instruct students in the key concepts that are required for efficient application of biotechnological microbial cell systems for the production of chemicals and proteins.

Content

Biotechnological products – bacterial physiology - macrokinetics - model reactors - cell recycle - - mass transfer in heterogeneous systems - product purification (membrane processes; chromatography)
