Abstract

In the context of an examination lesson conducted and graded at a high school, the candidates provide evidence of the subject-matter-based and didactic skills they have acquired in the course of their training.

Objective

On the basis of a specified topic, the candidate shows that they are in a position - to develop and conduct teaching that is conducive to learning at high school level, substantiating it in terms of the subject-matter and from the didactic angle - to analyze the tuition they have given with regard to its strengths and weaknesses, and outline improvements.

Content

Students are usually informed of the lesson topic one week before the examination date. They receive information from the teacher responsible about the level of knowledge of the class to be taught and can visit them before the examination date. They prepare a lesson according to the instructions and submit it to the two examination experts 48 hours before the lesson. The lesson given is assessed on the basis of criteria. The assessment also includes the written preparation and an oral reflection by the candidate on the lesson given as part of a short colloquium.
