Strategic Talent Management in the Age of AI: Leading Human-AI Teams

Abstract
This intensive 4-day block course explores the future of work by discussing the interplay between human talent and AI. We will cover and move beyond foundational theories of talent management to address the strategic challenges and opportunities that arise when intelligent systems become integral members of the workforce.
Objective
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: - Understand strategic talent management functions and their relationship to leadership. - Know instruments for selection, performance appraisal, compensation, and people development. - Understand leadership requirements and success factors in leadership. - Formulate leadership strategies for orchestrating human-AI teams, focusing on how to effectively combine human and AI capabilities. - Evaluate team dynamics in diverse human only teams as well as human-AI teams. - Assess how AI is reshaping job roles, career paths, and the essential skills required for the future workforce.
Content
This intensive 4-day block course explores the future of work by discussing the interplay between human talent and AI. We will cover and move beyond foundational theories of talent management to address the strategic challenges and opportunities that arise when intelligent systems become integral members of the workforce. Key areas of discussion will include: - The evolution of strategic talent management in an era where jobs, roles, and career paths are fundamentally reshaped by AI. - Policies, practices, and systems that influence employees' behavior, attitudes, and performance. - The new paradigm of leadership required to orchestrate and inspire hybrid teams composed of both human and AI agents. - The emerging team dynamics within human-AI collaborations and how to strategically leverage this synergy for competitive advantage. The course is taught from the perspective of team members' and team leaders' role in strategic talent management, NOT from the perspective of traditional human resource managers.
