Abstract
Practical teaching of the legal principles for practicing the profession of pharmacist. Supplemented by teaching the basic principles of pharmaceutical and health economics as well as business administration.
Objective
In the lecture part "Law", the students apply the relevant federal decrees on the medical professions, on social insurances, on remedies and on other goods and services commonly used in the pharmacy profession in the interest of the patients. They understand the principles of health protection of the individual decrees and the patients' right to self-determination. On the basis of practical situations, the students acquire knowledge on the application and the balancing of the individual decrees against each other. In the lecture part "Economics" the students get to know the structure of the Swiss healthcare system including competences and duties of the different actors. They acquire knowledge of the basics of pharmaceutical and health economics as well as business administration (in particular the foundation and management of a pharmacy). Furthermore, they understand and know the health policy strategy of the federal government, the possibilities and limits of the electronic patient dossier, as well as managed care and integrated care models.
Content
In the lecture part "Law", the role of the pharmacist in the health care system, as a medical person, as a service provider and in interdisciplinary cooperation is taught from the perspective of federal law. Students acquire knowledge of the legal requirements for various groups of remedies, from production, distribution, dispensing and use to disposal. In the lecture part "Economics", students gain an insight into the legal foundations, structures and developments of the Swiss healthcare system, acquire knowledge of the basics of pharmaceutical and health economics as well as business administration.
