Last Updated: 2026-06-03 00:14:54
Abstract
Application of ecological theory is relevant especially for habitat and ecosystem restoration, for management of endangered species, and for pest control and harvest management. Ecological applications are central for sustainable ecosystem management and expertise in this field is needed in various professions. Purpose of this course is to give an overview of the common applications and methods.
Objective
Knowledge: Define ecological theory and its relevance to habitat and ecosystem restoration, endangered species management, pest control, and harvest management. Identify the professions where expertise in ecological applications is required. Comprehension: Summarize ecological applications in habitat and ecosystem restoration, endangered species management, pest control, and harvest management. Explain the importance of sustainable ecosystem management across various professions. Application: Learn examples of ecological theory used to develop restoration strategies and management plans. Design and implement pest control and harvest management strategies based on ecological approaches. Analysis: Evaluate the effectiveness of ecological methods in restoration and management. Analyze ecological implications of management strategies and practices. Synthesis: Synthesize ecological principles for integrated pest control, harvest management strategies and conservation management. Evaluation: Critique ecological applications and methods, considering their strengths and limitations. Evaluate the ethical implications and sustainability of restoration and management efforts.
