Scientific writing for the MAS in Applied Technology

Abstract

The course covers the writing context; the writing process; structuring sentences, paragraphs, longer sections (such as introduction, methods, results, and discussion), and whole texts; presenting and integrating non-textual elements such as graphs and tables; and editing and correcting drafts and proofs. Participants will receive input on how to produce reader-friendly academic texts, and they wi

Objective

2 ECTS points are awarded for successful completion of the course. Successful completion requires active and continuous participation. Participants should be able to dedicate at least 2 hours a week to independent study and revision. Writing assignments are set as homework and discussed in class. Students must submit the first draft and revised version of each of these texts, showing how they have incorporated peer and lecturer feedback on their writing. To obtain a grade, a portfolio of four corrected assignments must be submitted at the end of the course.
