Digital Design Methods III
Last Updated: 2026-06-01 11:31:17
Abstract
This course builds upon the foundational digital design methods introduced in earlier studies, expanding into advanced data acquisition, modeling, simulation, and visualization techniques. The final semester in this series focuses on refining and integrating these skills into a cohesive digital workflow.
Objective
By the end of the semester, students will have mastered key survey methods as well as landscape modeling and visualisation tools. They will be equipped to apply these methods independently in future academic work and professional practice. Finally, they will learn to curate their collected data and digital models into a narrative presented through audiovisual media.
Content
Centered around an individual case study, students will engage with the full spectrum of a digital landscape architecture project—from field data collection to 2D and 3D modeling within the Landscape Visualization and Modelling Lab (LVML), and from analysis and simulation to final visualizations and audiovisual stories. The course is structured into three parallel components: 1. Survey and Material Collection 2. Modeling and Visualization 3. Storytelling and Editing The semester culminates in a synthesis project that allows students to demonstrate their technical proficiency and creative capacity. Throughout the course, students receive guidance and feedback from an interdisciplinary team, supporting the development of their case study.
