Vibrational Architectures
Last Updated: 2026-06-01 11:30:29
Abstract
With Nicole L'Huillier, we will explore sonic spaces and vibrational architectures through a transdisciplinary approach to sound, listening, and spatial experience. Participants will develop an artwork that investigates the relationship between sound and space. We navigate invisible architectures and immaterial worlds—sonic structures that shape our shared environments, relations, and perceptions.
Objective
Experimental methodologies to conceptualice and create an artwork that explore the relationship between sound and space. Through this process you will learn about: Field recording, Sound collage, Digital Audio Workstations, Soldering electronic components for custom made mies and sound systems.
Content
Students will explore acoustic phenomena, artistic methodologies, amplification techniques, and electromagnetic interferences through instruments such as electromagnetic frequency (EMF) antennas, contact microphones, and transducers. Guided by the poetics and politics of listening, as well as the creation of experimental apparatuses for sending and receiving vibrations, the workshop will approach sound and vibration as streng material forces for constructing sonic spaces and other forms of vibrational architectures.
