Thermodynamics I
Thermodynamik I
Last Updated: 2026-06-01 11:31:21
Abstract
Introduction to the fundamentals of technical thermodynamics.
Objective
Students are able to design and evaluate energy conversion systems using methods of technical thermodynamics: • Students are able to describe, apply, and correctly classify thermodynamic state and process variables as well as reversible and irreversible state changes. • Students are able to apply ideal substance models, tabulated real substance data, and state diagrams. • Students are able to explain thermodynamic processes such as heat engines, heat pumps, or refrigeration machines, as well as their components (e.g., pumps or compressors). • Students are able to define system boundaries and derive mass, energy, and entropy balances in order to analyze thermodynamic processes. • Students are able to evaluate thermodynamic processes and their components based on their efficiencies. • Students are able to explain the concepts of exergy and anergy and use them to assess the usability of energy in thermodynamic processes.
