Abstract

The course introduces students to the product development process and engineering design. In a team, you will explore the early phases of conceptual development and product design, from ideation and concept generation through to hands-on prototyping. This is an opportunity to gain product development experience and improve your skills in prototyping and presenting your product ideas.

Objective

 Learn fundamental topics in engineering design and product development.  Learn one product development process and its benefits.  Introduction to a variety of engineering design methods and models used in product development and design.  Focus on the early design phases and conceptual design.  Apply the methods immediately to a design project carried out in the exercises.  Develop design reasoning and critical thinking skills.
