Abstract

This lecture series examines the significance in literature and film of youth protests from the late 1960s to the passage of the 1980s, when a new dominance of bourgeois society occurs.

Objective

In particular, during the course we will ask what effects this contestation brings with it, and what reasons these effects seem to be absorbed into the capitalist society of the 1980s, although they leave clear traces.

Content

This lecture series examines the significance in literature and film of youth protests from the late 1960s to the passage of the 1980s, when a new dominance of bourgeois society occurs. In particular, during the course we will ask what effects this contestation brings with it, and what reasons these effects seem to be absorbed into the capitalist society of the 1980s, although they leave clear traces. Guiding us through the journey will be a few authors and the works most affected by their expressive action. Here is the general outline of the meetings: 1. Alice's world as a precipitation of the body into another dimension: Gianni Celati's "Alice disambientata." 2. Bewilderment and the shape of love: "Lunarium of Paradise" by Gianni Celati; 3. The undergound culture of the Italian province: "Other libertines" by P.V.Tondelli; 4. M. Antonioni: "Zabrinskie point," the film about the uprising on American campuses. 5. The return to the will to narrate: the function of the eye finding the world in Luigi Ghirri's photography and Celati's cinema 6. A student of Italo Calvino: Daniele del Giudice 7. The representation of reality with the eye of the scientist: Western Atlas by D. Del Giudice; 8. The scientist protagonist in literature: why?; 9. Pasolini "did not" understand the world of youth (?): Discourses on hair and bourgeois eroticism (from "Scritti Corsari"); 10. Pasolini: a film about the bourgeois family: "Theorem." 11. Elsa Morante: "The world saved by little boys": the announcement of the new era.
