Abstract
Specialist aspects of biology, with an emphasis on biological concepts and misconceptions, are addressed from the standpoint of their communication to students, their historical development, and their significance to the subject, the individual and society.
Objective
After successful completion of the module, students should be able to - explain biological concepts and principles, as well as the way they fit together - recognise and correct existing misconceptions - analyse controversial topics and give factual explanations for these - prepare teaching units suitably tailored to the recipients, with complex learning matter on a high professional level.
Content
Selected topics in biology are developed with special attention to the needs of teachers. The module is composed of lecture, book club, and a project assignment.
