VVZ CR n/a

Last Updated: 2026-06-01 11:32:50

Abstract

Selected aspects of four horticultural value chains are addressed in 3 lectures each. Knowledge delivery blocks alternative with simple group work during these lectures. Students then divide into 4 groups to address a case study. The results are documented on a poster and presented and discussed with all students at a final colloquium.

Objective

Achieve a deepened understanding of selected horticultural value chain challenges related with the transformation of food systems and agroecological principles. Have insight into an experimental research set up, which is aiming at developing practical solutions for these challenges. Deliver in a team effort, based on a science-based poster, the findings of a related case study.

Content

The addressed cropping systems and value chains are fruit-production, vegetable-production, substrate-based and protected production and viticulture. The selected topics address challenges with regard to aspects of food systems transformation and problems that conflict with agroecological principles, addressed in on-going applied research and development projects.
