How to Write Scientific Texts

Abstract
This four-hour course covers the basics of writing and presenting scientific work. The focus lies on the structure and the main elements of a scientific text. Formatting guidelines, citation rules, good practice of scientific writing and hints to convince the audience are part of the course.

- You can write scientific texts using the correct structure - You can convincingly present scientific work - You can differentiate the scientific style from novels and news - You can adhere to citation rules and scientific integrity
Content
The block course cover the following topics: - Structure of Scientific Texts (title, author list, abstract, state-of-the-art, "in this paper" paragraph, scientific part, summary) - Structure of Scientific Presentations - Formatting/Style of Scientific Elements (figures, equations, tables) - Citation Rules and Scientific Integrity The lecture will be given in two parts on two afternoons. Some exercises will be built into the lecture.
