Integration of Practica (Block Days)
Integration der Praktika (Blocktage)
Last Updated: 2026-06-01 11:34:01
Abstract
The students integrate the knowledge they have gained in the practical courses (Integrierte Praktika) by applying it to tackling a specific environmental problem.
Objective
Students are able to: (i) evaluate their knowledge of measurement and analysis methods acquired in the integrated practical courses with regard to relevance for dealing with a specific environmental problem. ii) combine the relevant methods learned in the practical courses in such a way that they support tackling an environmental problem. iii) perform the analysis in exchange with other students and present it comprehensibly as a group. iv) critically reflect on the limitations of the methods in terms of problem analysis and solution.
Content
The focus of this course is the integration of the knowledge on measurement and analysis methods acquired in the various practical courses (Integrierte Praktika). The integration takes place in three steps: 1) At the beginning of the semester, students are introduced to the topic of "integration" and the work assignment. Students are divided into groups of 6-7 so that all practical courses are represented in each group. Each group will develop the structure of a fact sheet with which they will document the methods and analysis techniques learned in the practical courses. 2) During the semester, students will complete a fact sheet per group for each practical course according to the structure they have developed. 3) On the first Monday after the end of the semester, the groups are assigned to work on a more specific environmental problem. They use their fact sheets to choose methods relevant to the problem and combine them to bring the problem closer to a solution. The groups present their results in an original way. During the semester, the lecturers and tutors offer consultation hours.
