Abstract

A compact model is a collection of algebraic equations that are designed to accurately replicate the intricate properties of a semiconductor device. They are specifically tailored for simulating integrated circuits. This short course aims to familiarize the students with the compact modeling techniques of metal-oxide-semiconductor-field-effect-transistor, the workhorse of semiconductor industry.

Objective

The objective of the course is to familiarize the students with the following topics. • Operating principles of a MOSFET • Device simulation framework in TCAD • Fundamental steps for compact model development • Quasi-Static and Non-Quasi-Static models • Charge based (EKV) and Surface potential (PSP) based modeling techniques • Verilog-A implementation in SPICE.
