Abstract

In many experiments, detectors are able to measure the magnitude of a signal but not the phase. It is therefore important to know whether one can recover the lost phase information, given a set of physical constraints on the signal. Although such problems have a long history, it was only recently proven that phase retrieval can be done stably. This seminar will give an introduction to this field.

Objective

Starting from basic functional analysis, we will gently proceed to recent results and open problems in phase retrieval.
