Abstract
The "Basic Course Abdomen" is the sequel of the "Ultrasound Basics" in fall semester. It covers the ultrasound anatomy of the abdomen and a systematic examination of the organs. Successful completion of both parts leads to the SGUM Basic Course Abdomen Certificate.

- Understanding the physical principles of sonography. - Ultrasound anatomy of the abdomen - Knowing and being able to use the typical settings for abdominal, eFAST and MSK sonography - Systematic examination of the organs - Subject guidance in ultrasound - Knowledge of the most important artifacts and their usefulness for sonography - SGUM Basic Course Abdomen Certificate on successful completion of all parts
Content
The Basic Course Abdomen builds on the Ultrasound Basics and enables students to acquire further ultrasound skills in a total of 8 additional lessons. In addition to in-depth knowledge of abdominal ultrasound anatomy and systematic organ visualization, students acquire specific knowledge in the areas of abdominal, eFAST and MSK sonography. This practice-oriented course also includes subject guidance in ultrasound and provides a basic understanding of the most important artifacts and their significance in sonography. The acquired skills are tested in an OSCE examination at the end of the course. Upon successful completion of all parts, students receive the SGUM Basic Course Abdomen Certificate.
