Last Updated: 2026-02-05 16:38:08

Abstract

During this field trip students will investigate: i) tectono-metamorphic processes controling the dynamics of high-grade migmatitic terrains; ii) magmatic processes characterizing a trans-lithospheric magmatic system formed in arc-setting, from the lower to the upper crust; iii) 500 Ma geodynamic evolution of the Gondwana and Laurentia continents.

Objective

Starting from field observations at the outcrop scale in different areas of the Central Andes, students are able to understand prominent crustal processes, which govern the general evolution of the continental crust during a complete Wylson cycle.
