Advanced Topics in History and Theory of Architecture: Things of Architecture
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 16:38:24
Abstract
What new readings of architecture emerge when the objects of research are not the ever-changing «heroes», «pioneers» or the «key buildings», but instead a series of «things» like the various network of expertise, systems, and objects that at the same time shaped our built environment? The seminar will focus on the overlooked «anonymous» objects of history.
Objective
Acquiring insight in the different possible research methods available to PhD-researchers in the fields of the history and theory of art and architecture.
Content
The course will alternate between reading seminars and individual presentations. Participants will be asked to work on a "thing" that they have encountered in their PhD research.
