Abstract
The lectures start with a comparative presentation of European and non-European cultures and their concepts of development. It covers issues of colonial history, of “livelihood systems” in developing countries, the role of education and training, inkages between culture, society and technology as well as concepts of development in the context of one of the large world religions.
