Last Updated: 2026-02-05 16:37:38
Abstract
This course builds upon the LTI SISO systems modeling and control techniques learned in control systems I introducing state estimation and feedback, the implementation challenges, multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems and the techniques to analyze and synthesize controllers for this class of systems.
Objective
By the end of this course learners will be able to design and implement state estimation and feedback algorithms for SISO system, understand and mitigate common nuisances such as the effects of discretization, aliasing and delays, distinguish between SISO and MIMO systems and utilize common techniques for the analysis and control of MIMO systems.
Content
Luenberger observer, state feedback, separation principle, decomposition of SISO systems in structural properties, discretization, aliasing, and time delays. MIMO systems, relevant norms, singular value decomposition, small gain theorem, analysis of performance, decoupling and decentralized control, relative gain array, principles of IMC, LQR, LQG.
