Abstract

Introduction to the mathematical foundations of engineering sciences, as far as concerning differential and integral calculus.

Objective

Understanding of the theoretical foundations of the mathematical-analytical tools required for engineering studies, strong computational skills in multivariable calculus, application to the derivation of physical laws and in relevant examples

Content

Differential and integral calculus for functions of several variables; vector analysis; ordinary differential equations of first and of higher order, systems of ordinary differential equations. For each of these topics many examples from mechanics, physics and other areas.

Für jede der beiden schriftlichen Teilprüfungen je eine Zusammenfassung der Vorlesung:- Analysis I auf bis zu 4 A4 Seiten (2 Blätter)- Analysis II auf bis zu 10 A4 Seiten (5 Blätter)ausserdem die Formelsammlung "Formeln, Tabellen, Begriffe" (dt/fr/it/en) sowie ein Wörterbuch für fremdsprachige Studierende.

Das Lösen von Übungen wird mit einem Bonus von bis zu 0.25 Notenpunkten in der Jahresprüfung belohnt. Für den maximalen Notenbonus müssen in beiden Semestern je 9 der 12 ersten Übungsserien bearbeitet werden. Die exakten Bedingungen werden auf der Vorlesungshomepage gelistet.

Groups are selected in myStudies. Schnellübungen Mo/2w 12-14 (alternierend mit der Vorlesung) Zusätzlich findet dienstags 18:15-20:00 Uhr ab der 3. Semesterwoche im HIL B 21 das Study Center statt, wo die Möglichkeit des betreuten Lernens angeboten wird. Im Study Center können Studierende Vorlesungsstoff vor- oder nachbereiten und Übungen lösen.
