Geological Field Course III: Crystalline Rocks
Geologischer Feldkurs III: Kristallin
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 16:38:32
Abstract
Using modern methods, students will draw a geologic map and profiles so that tectono-metamorphic processes in the Alps can be understood.
Objective
Students learn how to draw a geologic map and geologic profiles using modern digital methods, how to take representative rock samples, and, how the combination of geologic mapping and profiles leads to the understanding of the processes that shape the continental crust.
Content
Digital geological mapping, sampling, alpine tectonics, metamorphic processes.
Resources
Lecture Notes
Handouts and an introduction to digital mapping will be given before the course.
