Abstract
This course deals with modern Arabic poetry, while also giving space to the history and development of Arabic poetry. The participants read Arabic poems which are historically located through Arabic prose texts. Particular attention is paid to the specific adaption of poems, e.g. setting them to music or using them for political purposes.
Objective
The participants develop an understanding of the cultural significance of Arabic poetry in the past and present. They can read and understand simpler works by modern authors.
