Abstract

VET encompasses the area from vocational orientation (Sek I) to basic vocational education (Sek II), vocational baccalaureate, higher vocational education (tertiary b) and continuing education. These diverse opportunities for vocational learning are systematically presented, explored by the students and combined with an introduction to central basic concepts of vocational education and training.

Objective

The students know the Swiss VET/PET system with its legal and historical foundations, its structures, actors and places of learning as well as its vocational pedagogical foundations and are able to explain them. - The students know important vocational pedagogical terms and concepts and can use them to design and reflect on their own activities and relate them to the professional practice and lifeworld of VET learners. - Students have an understanding of the specific challenges for learners based on their own experiences in the professional environment and their professional reflection and can refer to them in the classroom. - Students understand the development of their professional competencies as an iterative process and know the basics of individual continuing education planning in the teaching profession. - The students are familiar with current topics in vocational education and training and their vocational pedagogical foundations as well as possibilities to regularly inform themselves about current developments in vocational education and training and changes in the professions.
